Privacy Policy for Spikey Bot

This Privacy Policy explains how Spikey (“we”, “our”, “us”, or “the Bot”) collects, uses, and protects data when you interact with the Spikey Discord bot ("Service"). By inviting and using the Spikey Bot, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

To provide its core functionality, Spikey needs to store certain information linked to your Discord account:

Discord User ID: Your unique numerical identifier on Discord. This is essential for tracking your progress, inventory, and settings within the Bot.
Discord Username/Tag: Your display name on Discord (e.g., "Spikey#1234" or "@spikey"). Used for display purposes within the bot (like leaderboards or game messages) and for identification during support interactions.
Discord Server ID: The unique identifier of the servers (guilds) where Spikey is used. This helps manage server-specific settings or game states (if applicable).
User Inputs: Data you explicitly provide when interacting with bot commands (e.g., game choices, configuration settings you input).

We explicitly DO NOT collect: Your Discord email address, phone number, real name (unless it's your username), physical address, IP address, payment information (see Section 5), or the content of your private messages unless directly sent to the bot via commands.

2. How We Use Your Information

The collected information is used solely for the following purposes:

To operate and maintain the Service (e.g., saving game progress, managing economy balances, applying user settings).
To enable multiplayer game functionality by identifying participants.
To display usernames in game messages, leaderboards, or profiles within the bot.
To provide user support and respond to inquiries.
To enforce our Terms of Service and moderate bot usage.
To identify users for Premium subscription benefits (linked via Discord ID).

3. Data Storage and Security

Your collected data (User ID, Username, Server IDs, game data) is stored in secured databases hosted on reputable cloud platforms. Access to this data is strictly limited to authorized developers of Spikey Bot.

We implement reasonable security measures (such as access controls and encryption where appropriate) to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share your collected information with third parties for marketing purposes.

We may disclose your information only in the following limited circumstances:

With Your Consent: If you explicitly authorize us to share information.
For Legal Reasons: If required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request (e.g., a subpoena or court order).
To Enforce Policies: To enforce our Terms of Service, including investigation of potential violations.

If you choose to purchase Spikey Premium, your payment is processed through a third-party payment processor (e.g., Patreon, Stripe). We do not collect, store, or have access to your full payment card details or financial account information.

The collection and use of your information by these third-party services are governed by their respective privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you use in connection with Spikey Premium.

We only receive confirmation of your subscription status (linked via your Discord ID if you connect your accounts) from these platforms to grant you premium benefits within the bot.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your collected data for as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, or as required by law.

You have the right to request the deletion of your data associated with Spikey Bot. You can do this by using the inbuilt /delete_my_data command or by contacting us through the official support server. Upon receiving a valid deletion request, your identifiable data will be immediately and permanently removed from our active databases. We do not retain deleted user data.

Please note that deleting your data will likely result in the loss of all your progress, inventory, and settings within the bot.

7. Children’s Privacy

Our Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 13 (or the relevant age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you become aware that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify users of significant changes, typically through an announcement in our official Discord server or by updating the effective date at the top of this policy.

Your continued use of the Spikey Bot after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
